Adam W. Schneid’s practice is devoted primarily to Family and Matrimonial law. Mr. Schneid is a graduate of Cornell University and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law where he graduated magna cum laude, was awarded membership in the Order of the Coif, and received the Jacob Burns Medal (scholastic achievement award) in 2006. While in law school Mr. Schneid was a Dean’s Distinguished Scholar, a recipient of the Dean’s Merit Scholarship, an Associate Editor of the Cardozo Law Review, and a teaching assistant for a class on contract law.
Prior to joining Most & Schneid, P.C. Mr. Schneid spent five years at Proskauer Rose LLP, a vault 100 law firm with offices around the world, where he was in the litigation department. Mr. Schneid is a member of the New York State, American, Westchester and Nassau County Bar Associations. Mr. Schneid is admitted to the bars of New York and New Jersey and is admitted to practice in the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, and the District of New Jersey.
Experience and practice areas include:
- Child custody and access matters relating to a range of issues spanning the spectrum from negotiating amicable settlements with the other spouse to disputed custody litigation involving mental health issues, abuse, sexual misconduct, alcohol and drugs, anger issues, alienation, factitious disorder by proxy (Munchausen’s by proxy), and a variety of other issues;
- Child and spousal support matters in connection with a Divorce or Family Court proceedings relating to a range of issues involving W-2 employees, imputing income, finding unreported cash income, phantom income, business owners and numerous other issues;
- Equitable distribution aspects of divorce proceedings including cases involving unequal distributions, hidden assets, distributing value from businesses, separate property and numerous other issues;
- Pre and post nuptial agreements;
- Separation Agreements;
- Appeals;
- Trials; and
- Modifications of child custody, access and support.
While at Proskauer Rose, LLP, representative cases include:
- The Senior Vice President of Gen Re against criminal charges of mail and wire fraud relating to a $500 million transaction with American International Group;
- Sun Capital Inc. and Promise Healthcare in an SEC investigation and in SEC and related litigation in the Middle District of Florida;
- the Director of an international mining company in an SEC investigation; and
- a triple lessee of a 23 story office building in Manhattan in connection with a $15 million dispute relating to profit sharing and repair obligations.
